ADAMS MORGAN -- Already one of the country's
most trusted places to find the perfect whiskey pairing,
Jack Rose Dining Saloon opened itself up on Sunday evening for a different kind of matchmaking.
A singles soiree cleverly cloaked inside the cocoon of a casual BBQ, the occasion was hosted by mobile dating startup
Hinge on the spacious open-air terrace of the popular Adams Morgan restaurant and bar.
The sold-out affair was the D.C.-based company's largest event since its massive
launch party back in February, with approximately 200 guests.
Beyond celebrating 'life, liberty and the pursuit of matches', guests were treated to a massive BBQ buffet of everything from grilled oysters to shrimp rolls to Kobe beef sliders to half smokes. And all of that was easily washed down with an open bar stocked full with beer, wine, bubbly, cocktails, and specialty punches (cue the drinking games).
A particular highlight of the event was the dedicated cornhole court that had been temporarily constructed for the evening, complete with freshly laid AstroTurf. The lucky winner of the frighteningly competitive tournament even walked away with a pair (again, Hinge always puts matchmaking first) of prized
9:30 Club tickets for next month's
Portugal. The Man show.
Always the ever present wingmen, evening organizers and Hinge co-founders
Bennett Richardson and
Justin McLeod took pains to reward the application's most active users, with attendees boasting 'Sapphire', 'Diamond' or 'Black' status leaving with hefty gift bags packed with 'awesome treats and hangover cures' (think La Colombe coffee, Taylor Gourmet subs, etc.).
Real connections. Real BBQ. Real whiskey. Real good time.
