DUPONT CIRCLE -- When it first opened its discreetly shaded doors back in November, The Huxley temporarily seized the D.C. nightlife spotlight with a splashy black tie opening party and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Still, despite the beautiful crowd and lavish media attention, there's always a certain element of risk when launching any new business. Did they pick the right location? Will customers come back? Etc.

Fast forward more than six months and The Huxley is still going strong, however, with the Dupont Circle venue consistently bringing in high profile both patrons and music talent, including a notable series of DJ sets by Lil Jon just a few days ago.

Co-owners Ryan Seelbach and Eric Lund, along with General Manager Logan West, have strived to push the boundaries about how a D.C. nightclub is perceived, with the launch of a monthly (boozy) brunch series and even by hosting a tent at this year's spring Gold Cup races.

And yesterday evening it was their turn to say thank you to their supporters, as they hosted an intimate customer appreciation party for a lucky group of close friends and family. A premium open bar set the stage for a celebratory evening, with a late influx of guests coming from Capitol File Magazine's 'Power List' party ensuring that bottles were popping well into the night.

They say a rising tide lifts all boats. Six months ago, The Huxley hung its first red rope outside its door. And D.C. nightlife as a whole has been the better for it, with more options leading to better service all around. Happy customers? Happy anniversary.
