NORTHWEST -- Washington's young professionals were given the perfect excuse to breakout their favorite warm weather duds on Friday evening, as the
University Club of Washington, D.C. held its inaugural "Gin 'N Linen" party.
Hosted by the organization's Proctor Dougherty Society and held on the Club's spacious rooftop deck, the sold out event took full advantage of the near perfect weather, with appropriately themed decorations and a live DJ spinning.
Each ticket granted guests access to two specialty gin cocktails, an open beer and wine bar, and heavy hors d'oeuvres catered by the University Club's kitchen.
While linen attire was encourage, in keeping with the name of the party, organizers certainly weren't sticklers and seersucker and other forms of summer wear were proudly on display.
Named after one of the University Club's founders, the Proctor Dougherty Society is specifically charged with promoting the involvement of the organization's young professionals and their guests through a series of seasonal gatherings modeled after the Club's formative years.
