NORTHEAST -- The H Street Corridor's
Vendetta bar and restaurant might have served as the backdrop, but the only retaliatory acts that took place at last night's
Birchbox Man happy hour were on the venue's famed indoor bocce courts.
The occasion was nothing more complex than a relaxed way for the monthly grooming and lifestyle subscription service to further engage with the D.C. community. Each month, Birchbox Man sends 3-4 grooming samples and 1-2 lifestyle products from top brands -- everything from shaving gel and lip balm to sunglasses and barware -- to its members.
The goal is for subscribers to try out the products, read more about them online, and then purchase full-sized versions. In many ways, it's a very streamlined and 21st century rendition of a personal shopper.
And such personalization was on full display last night, with even the drinks being served tailored to individual shopping preferences. 'Mavericks' might prefer a dry Bulleit Rye and a Molton Brown body scrub bar, for example, while 'Dandies' might opt instead for a rich Woodford Reserve and a Billy Jealousy sake bomb body moisturizer.
It was all about making handsome handsomer.
