DUPONT CIRCLE -- DGS Delicatessen and DC Brau Brewing Company have come together this summer, with the joint creation of a new Belgian IPA that is sure to keep thirsty Washingtonians satisfied.

The newly christened “Golden Calf” collaborative beer blends DC Brau's existing Yonder Cities beer, which boasts a bright, grapefruit candy palate with a spied plum undertone and DGS’s signature slivovitz plum mash, an Eastern European-influenced, house crafted plum brandy.

Golden Calf has the bitter hoppiness of a traditional IPA but is simultaneously crisp and refreshing, animated by the richness of plum spice. It marries well with D.C.'s warmer weather and is designed to pair with everything from hot dogs to pastrami to smoked salmon.

In announcing the partnership, DGS Delicatessen co-owner Nick Wiseman mused: "What could be better than putting beer and slivovitz together?"

What indeed.
