GEORGETOWN -- Every job has its perks, but undoubtedly some perks are better than others. And employees of Georgetown and Glover Park nightlife mainstays
George and
Mason Inn were the lucky beneficiaries yesterday evening of a particularly good one.
With the picturesque Georgetown waterfront serving as a backdrop, dozens of the venues' employees were invited to a private, nighttime party aboard the 87-foot yacht dubbed Moksha, which is owned by two friends of George and Mason Inn owners
Fritz Brogan,
Reed Landry, and
Hunter Campbell.
Once aboard, they were treated to a buffet of typical American fare -- similar to that found on their host establishments' menus -- in addition to a flowing cocktail bar.
An inclusive bash, the guest list wasn't limited strictly to frontline employees, such as owners and bartenders. All staffers were invited and a few select friends, including the security personnel who keep guard over the lines at the door to the chefs who always stand at the ready to serve-up a piping hot plate of shrimp scampi.
Beyond serving as a thank you for their employees, the night served a dual purpose for George and Mason Inn in simultaneously celebrating the birthdays of the venues' managers:
Mark Oliver Williams (aka DJ MOW) and
Ryan Roller.
Both establishments, of course, have been
making headlines recently for their ambitious expansions plans.
George is in the process of applying for permission to expand its occupancy limit from 99 patrons to 200, in order to accommodate an uptick in demand for corporate and private events.
And, as first reported at the beginning of summer by
The Washington Post, Mason Inn is readying a new rooftop deck for customers just in time for fall.
All pretty good reasons to celebrate, if you ask us.
