GEORGETOWN -- When the
Sumeria Group was last in the District, the company
packed the Sphinx Club with some 600 young professionals.
And Thursday evening, the group -- which takes its name from the Ancient Sumerians of Mesopotamia -- returned to D.C. for a special summer social held at exclusive Georgetown bar
Smith Point.
Co-hosted by the professional, civic, and social organization known as
The Madison, the nighttime celebration filled both of the venue's prized outdoor patios as guests took advantage of the unseasonably pleasant weather.
Proceeds from the event benefitted
Crittenton Services of Greater Washington, which supports programs in area schools that empower teen girls to overcome obstacles, make positive choices, and develop essential life skills.
Such a charitable component is in keeping with Sumeria's goal to leverage custom social events for young adults to help nonprofits, startups, and emerging brands.
To borrow a
Charles Bowden quote, the evening helped prove that 'summertime is always the best of what might be.'
