GEORGETOWN -- Cigars were lit and scotch ceremoniously swirled on Wednesday evening during a private kickoff event for this year's legendary
Fight Night fundraiser, which will be held on Thursday, November 14th.
Dubbed a 'Taste of Fight Night', yesterday's tony rooftop affair was held against the backdrop of
The Graham Georgetown's upper level Observatory bar, which co-hosted the event alongside
BnB Tobacco.
Beyond drumming-up excitement for November's upcoming black tie bash benefiting D.C.-based non-profit
Fight For Children, the purpose of Wednesday's gathering was to entice additional sponsors, with the end goal being to surpass 2012's already staggering $2.2 million haul.
Founded by the late
Joseph E. Robert, Jr. more than two decades ago, Fight For Children raises funds to ensure that low income children have access to a great education, in addition to staying healthy so that they can continue to learn.
For the first time this year, funds raised at Fight Night -- which will be chaired by leading sports performance apparel manufacturer
Under Armour -- will also provide additional support for education and healthcare services in Baltimore, including Under Armour’s WIN Baltimore program.
Beyond top Fight For Children supporters, such as
Raul Fernandez,
William McComb, and
Jack Quinn, a handful of organizers and advocates for sister charity
Knock Out Abuse Against Women were also present Wednesday evening. Held simultaneously each year, both galas unite at the end for a joint after party that rages well into the next morning.
One can therefore consider last night, just a Taste of things to come...
