Washingtonians Celebrate In Style During Magazine's '13 Malmaison Fashion Fete

GEORGETOWN -- Porsches lined the entrance, the prosecco was chilled, and Jimmy Choos were everywhere (including inside the refrigerators) at Malmaison on Thursday evening, as Washingtonian pulled out all the stops for its annual 'Style Setters' soiree.



A fashionable fete that the venerable magazine hosts during the fall to celebrate the year's best dressed honorees, as chosen by Fashion Editor Kate Bennett, last night's party drew some 500 of the District's finest.



After being greeted at the door by both Bennett and Washingtonian President and Publisher Cathy Merrill Williams (and some $250,000 worth of German automobile engineering), guests soon found themselves cradled in the lap of luxury.



From the crepe station to the 'bubbles bar' (think kiwi and strawberry-infused sparkling cocktails) to the Saks Fifth Avenue-styled mannequins seemingly mingling about, it was clear that no expense was spared for the occasion.



One might think identifying the honorees amidst a sea of fashionable revelers would be difficult and you would be right, which is why Washingtonian thoughtfully provided them with boutonnieres so that they could be quickly spotted and summarily congratulated.



The backgrounds of this year's best dressed are as diverse as their wardrobes, with the list including Washington Nationals Pitcher Gio Gonzalez, Four Seasons Hotel General Manager Dirk Burghartz, and molecular biologist Eric N. Schulze, among seven others.



Their favorite brands range from Brioni to Armani to Target and, of course, bespoke and vintage pieces are always in style.



Indeed, it's probably safe to say that the Georgetown waterfront literally couldn't have looked any better than it did last night.
