DUPONT CIRCLE -- Soon after
Lincoln first opened, restaurant owner
Alan Popovsky teamed with longtime friend and much sought after event planner
André Wells to co-host the venue's first brunch.
Fast forward a couple of years, critical and commercial success, and a visit from
President Obama later and Lincoln is more popular than ever amongst the city's foodies.
It was therefore natural for the two to reunite for a similar kickoff party when Lincoln's sister restaurant,
Teddy & The Bully Bar, announced the debut of its new brunch menu come Sunday, October 13th.
And so a hundred or so lucky guests found themselves inside Teddy's temporarily darkened walls yesterday afternoon, for a mischievous "Come and Play"-themed private launch celebration.
Attendees, which included BET Networks CEO
Debra Lee among other Washington notables, were able to sip and sample the same bottomless mimosas and endless small plates that will be included as part of Teddy's regular $40 prix fixe brunch menu.
The flapjack and farm fresh omelet stations proved particularly popular, with guests invited to customize their own savory creations with various fruit, vegetable, and cheese ingredients (a hot sauce bar was also available).
Indeed, the only thing perhaps more popular than the brunch stations was the party's dance floor, which boasted a live DJ -- a hallmark of future Sunday brunches at the restaurant.
