GEORGETOWN -- High tea gave way to 'haute tea' on Saturday afternoon, as much admired British luxury brand
Mulberry took over the lower level of the Four Seasons hotel for an exclusive gathering organized in partnership with
ELLE magazine.
Serving double duty as both a fashionable trunk show and a festive holiday celebration, the two hour affair saw some fifty of the District's most stylish residents turn out to the posh Georgetown property.
While the allure of mingling with two of the fashion world's most revered gatekeepers certainly proved a selling point to guests, no doubt an equal draw was the chance to catch-up with the afternoon's six notable D.C. hostesses:
Kathleen Biden,
Juleanna Glover,
Giovanna Gray,
Heather Podesta,
Susanna Quinn, and
Jennifer Tapper.
Between sips of champagne and steamy cups of tea, attendees feasted on a delectable buffet of sandwiches and pastries. All the while, statuesque models from
THE Artist Agency walked the room -- each naturally styled in Mulberry's finest.
With this time of the year considered a season of giving, both
ELLE and Mulberry generously agreed to set aside a percentage of the event's proceeds for local nonprofit the
D.C. Volunteer Lawyers Project, which provides high-quality, free family law services to low income area residents.
Since it was founded in 1971, Mulberry has grown to become one of the world's most respected lifestyle brands and counts numerous celebrities as clients, including much of the British royal family.
Perhaps best known for its luxury leather goods, women's handbags in particular, the company has expanded its collection in recent years and now offers everything from clothing to accessories to shoes.
One of only six locations in the United States, the Mulberry store at
Tysons Galleria opened just over a year ago and stocks the brand's full range of products.
Catwalk sold separately.
