Capital Club's Santa Soiree A Sold Out Affair; D.C.'s Finest Pack 22nd Annual 'Elvish Black Tie' Bash

GEORGETOWN -- Occasions become traditions for a reason and there is plenty of such rationale behind how The Capital Club's annual holiday bash became one of the District's must-attend events of the year.



2013, of course, was no exception and this year's annual Santa Soiree celebration extended the nonprofit's winning streak by selling-out for a 22nd year in a row.



Returning to Georgetown's historic City Tavern Club, much as it has for most of recent memory, the elegant affair drew hundreds of the city's brightest and most beautiful, including members of Washington's media, political, and business elite.



The attire for Saturday's late night party was listed as a playful 'Elvish Black Tie' and that clearly meant different things to different people. For some, it was the chance to break out some designer duds from the venerable fashion houses of Europe.



And still, for others, such sartorial creative license stirred visions of Saint Nick, dictators (just go with it), and enough shades of tartan to make even a native Scotsman burst with pride.



Santa Soiree is but one of The Capital Club's signature annual series of events. Equally entertaining is the group's springtime Shamrock Soiree, summertime Sinatra Soiree, and autumnal Swine on the Vine outing.



A recognized non-profit organization, The Capital Club has been a Washington social fixture for more than 30 years.



Proceeds from Saturday’s celebration will be used to support local and national charities and community causes, such as the Trey Lefler Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of the South.



No doubt it will fund a whole lot of bowls full of jelly.
