NORTHWEST -- Old acquaintances might have been forgotten on New Year's Eve, but good music was decidedly not as
Georgetown Events took over the cavernous underground ballroom of The Sphinx Club to usher in the start of 2014.
The District did itself proud throughout the late night celebration, with homegrown bands
Mission South and
U.S. Royalty rotating set lists before a well dressed crowd of revelers.
Still, the ritualistic dropping of the ball from Times Square was not overlooked and attendees got the best of both worlds with a live feed from New York projected onto a massive screen above the stage.
While D.C.'s finest seemed more than happy to dress the part for an elegant evening of celebrating, event organizers further greased the party wheels by providing heaping piles of complimentary hats, crowns, and horns for an added splash of color.
Georgetown Events, of course, is no stranger to hosting tent pole events about town, with the company boasting a portfolio of popular Washington restaurant and bar destinations (including the always raucous Fairgrounds outside of Nats Park).
Ticketholders were treated to a bottomless selection of beer, cocktails, and spirits, with those feeling particularly flush provided the option to upgrade their experience to an even more festive night of top flight, premium beverages.
This being a New Year's Eve celebration and all, cups o' kindness were naturally free, however. For auld lang syne...
