GEORGETOWN -- Some of the District's most stylish residents were able to temporarily escape the cold snap currently engulfing the city this week, during the grand opening celebration of
Calypso St. Barth's newest boutique on Tuesday evening.
The luxury retailer's 2,100-squarefoot outpost in Georgetown is its first in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and carries the brand's signature tunics, caftans, cashmere, and accessories, along with a selection of exotic home furnishings.
What began as a single resort-wear store back in 1992 has grown into an international lifestyle brand, with some 50 boutiques scattered across the United States, from Waikiki to Southhampton.
Inspired by travel, culture, and the arts, Calypso St. Barth focuses on unique and feminine pieces that women of all ages can love. Exotic dip-dyed caftans and plush cashmere cardigans are but some of the apparel and accessories for which the label has grown famous.
Guests to this week's private opening party took full advantage of a special VIP discount being offered to snap up such a cool mix of products, with their shopping splurges only further encouraged by the donation (10% of the night's receipts) being made that night by the store to the D.C. chapter of
Fashion Group International.
It was enough to warm even the coldest D.C. snowman's heart.
