NORTHWEST -- It was all glitz and government on Thursday evening at the
United States Institute of Peace, for the D.C. premiere screening of CBS's new fall TV series "
Madam Secretary", which airs nationally on Sunday, September 21st.
The top-rated television network rolled out a literal red carpet for the occasion, which boasted about a dozen of the show's cast and crew in attendance, including stars
Tea Leoni,
Tim Daly,
Bebe Neuwirth,
Sebastian Arcelus,
Erich Bergen,
Keith Carradine,
Patina Miller, and
Geoffrey Arend.
Produced under
Morgan Freeman's
Revelations Entertainment banner, "Madam Secretary" stars Leoni as the United States' newly appointed Secretary of State "who drives international diplomacy, battles office politics and circumvents protocol as she negotiates global and domestic issues, both at the White House and at home."
But there were actually two "Madams" spotted at yesterday's screening, with real life former
Secretary Madeleine Albright also stopping by the premiere (she helped Leoni prepare for the role).
Freeman too chatted up guests and the CBS News anchors who came out in a show of network support for the night, with the Academy Award-winning actor serving as an Executive Producer on the show, along with
Lori McCreary and
Barbara Hall.
