NORTHWEST -- Becky's Fund delivered a powerful blow for domestic and dating violence prevention on Thursday evening, during the nonprofit's sixth annual 'Walk This Way' fashion benefit.
The packed runway show, which was held at the Embassy of Italy, raised more than $200,000 for charity, with Washington Redskins players
Pierre Garçon,
Kai Forbath,
Chris Baker and
Andre Roberts, Ravens players
CJ Mosley and
Chykie Brown, and DC United stars
Bill Hamid and
Chris Pontius all taking to the catwalk for the occasion.
Professional boxer
Jimmy Lange, Philadelphia Wings midfielder
Paul Rabil, former NFL stars
John Booty,
Gary Clark, and
Josh Morgan, and U.S. Olympic rower
Giuseppe Lanzone completed the star-studded lineup of men who modeled the latest looks from luxury clothing brand
GANT.
Becky's Fund was founded by
Becky Lee in November 2006 with the prize money she won as a contestant on the acclaimed CBS prime-time television show
Survivor: Cook Islands.
'Walk This Way' is the charity's signature tentpole event and largest fundraiser of the year, counting more than 500 attendees at last night's sold-out show. And
Moët Hennessy and
Maserati were but two of the top-shelf sponsors who signed-on in support.
Proceeds from the evening are earmarked for the Becky's Fund 'Men of Code' initiative, which engages and empowers high school athletes to become better leaders in the movement to end violence against women and girls.
Indeed, players from the
Friendship Collegiate Academy's football team actually made a surprise appearance at the start of yesterday's program in a real world demonstration of the program in action.
The guys didn't get to have all of the fashionable fun, however, as a bevy of both professional and volunteer female models also took to the runway in elegant
Karen Millen designer dresses, including U.S. Olympic swimmer
Kate Ziegler.
Comcast SportsNet's
Julie Donaldson returned again this year as the night's entertaining emcee and was joined on-stage by 2014 Event Chair
Michelle Schoenfeld, who proudly raised a glass in toasting the show's success.
