LOGAN CIRCLE -- Design enthusiasts were treated to a special opportunity last week care of
Room & Board, with the venerable furniture retailer hosting a special book signing reception atop its flagship D.C. store.
Ingrid Abramovitch, Senior Editor and Writer of
Elle Decor magazine, served as the guest of honor for the evening and led a conversation about her most recent book before talking one-on-one with attendees.
The Height of Style: Inspiring Ideas from the World's Chicest Rooms, which Abramovitch co-authored along with
Elle Decor Editor-in-Chief
Michael Boodro, showcases more than 220 stunning rooms from around the world.
Each of the featured rooms in the book, which range from extravagant living spaces to sleek, state-of-the-art kitchens, baths, and dressing rooms, is classified into a reader-friendly category (e.g., 'classical', 'functional', etc.), which allows design buffs to more easily incorporate the depicted glamour into their own homes.
Helping make that transition effortless and fun, of course, is one of the reasons why Room & Board has become one of the country's most successful furniture and accessory retailers. And guests to last Thursday's reception, which was free to the general public, were encouraged to explore the store's vast assortment of newly designed, American-made wares as part of the party.
As it turns out, the
Height of Style for Washingtonians might be as close as 14th Street.
