NORTHWEST -- There wasn't a cloud in the sky over Washington yesterday evening, as the city welcomed a break in the bout of unseasonably humid weather that has lingered over the District in recent days.
But if there had been rain forecast for Tuesday, it would undoubtedly have been purple, with search engine pioneer
Yahoo pulling out all the stops in honor of its 20th anniversary.
Hundreds of partners, advertisers, and supporters were invited to join the Internet giant for a picturesque party on the famed rooftop at 101 Constitution Avenue, which had been appropriately backlit with a soothing shade of purple for the night.
Between passed bites and craft purple/gold cocktails, guests were free to enjoy one of the most panoramic views of Washington, covering everything from the U.S. Capitol next door to the Washington Monument a few miles away.
Naturally, there were also plenty of Yahoo's technology offerings on display for the occasion, including its portfolio of sister sites such as
Flickr, etc.
And mere hours before
Sen. Rand Paul began a filibuster over the NSA's controversial data collection program this afternoon, he was just one of the VIPs spotted chatting with senior Yahoo executives at yesterday's celebration.
Still no word if he did any yodeling though.
