NORTHWEST -- The Washington Post feted the launch of its newest flagship vertical website,
PowerPost, with a well attended party at the W Washington, D.C. on Tuesday evening.
The site-within-a-site explores the "inner workings of Washington" and pairs a continuously updated web page with a daily newsletter ('The Daily 202') anchored by national political correspondent
James Hohmann.
While PowerPost first went online back in June, this week's celebration, which took over the hotel's famed rooftop overlooking the White House and Washington Monument, was the venerable publication's first chance to formally toast its introduction.
More than a hundred WaPo staffers, including Publisher
Fred Ryan and Executive Editor
Marty Baron, as well as a healthy number of the District's political and business power brokers turned out for the occasion.
PowerPost builds upon the success of the newspaper's prior vertical sites, such as the popular
Wonkblog.
