Knightsbridge Restaurant Group owner Ashok Bajaj jokes about his feature in Capitol File Magazine's 2015 Men's Issue.
ADAMS MORGAN -- Italian sports cars and Italian suits were the uniform du jour in Adams Morgan last week, as
Capitol File celebrated the release of its latest Men's Issue with an exclusive soiree at
Jack Rose Dining Saloon.
The late fall issue of the popular magazine, which boasts a dapper
Richard Gere on its cover for 2015, serves as an annual nod to the District's dads and dudes and includes features on everything from custom suits to powerful politicos.
VIP guests to Wednesday's party began the night with a private reception inside Jack Rose's underground speakeasy, Dram & Grain. Inside, they were treated to rare whiskey tastings by Beam Suntory and fine cigars from W. Curtis Draper.
Naturally befitting the occasion, a decked out sports car courtesy of Criswell Maserati stood idling in the alleyway behind the cocktail bar, ready to offer test drives to anyone brave enough to take command of such horsepower.
Many of the tastemakers profiled in this year's Men's Issue could be spotted mingling, scotch (or soda for those with early wake-up times the next day) in hand, with their fellow VIPs, including famed D.C. restaurateur
Ashok Bajaj (Rasika, Rasika West End, 701, Bombay Club),
Washington Post/MSNBC journalist
Jonathan Capehart, and U.S. Department of State Assistant Chief of Protocol
Nick Schmit.
As the evening got later, the party's action switched to the venue's spacious ground floor with hundreds of guests filling the saloon's whiskey bottle-lined walls (one of the largest collections in the world). Men's style also took center stage there, with an eye-catching display showing-off the latest fall and winter fashions courtesy of luxe Italian designer Canali.

Amy Moeller, and the rest of the talented editorial and sales teams were seemingly ubiquitous throughout the night, as they greeted new arrivals and cheerfully posed for pictures.
The
Entertainment Software Association, which advocates for the business and public affairs needs of computer and video game publishers, had setup a series of Xbox One stations throughout the room and attendees enthusiastically dove into playfully heated FIFA 16 matches.
Meanwhile, Jack Rose's talented mixologists and bar staff ensured that a refreshing cocktail or beer was never more than an arm's length away (all the better when paired with one of the restaurant's savory meatloaf sliders!).
Sadly, as they say, all good things must come to an end. All a guy can do now is wait for next year's celebration!
