SHAW -- Saint Nick performed a flyover of Shaw on Saturday evening, as the jelly-bellied fellow was but one of the hundreds of guests spotted cocktailing and carousing at
The Capital Club's 2015
Santa Soiree celebration.
Now in its 24th year, the annual holiday party has become a D.C. tradition -- particularly among Georgetown's twentysomethings -- with the late night affair continuing its streak of selling-out.
Despite such a longstanding legacy, however, the organization's board had no problem mixing things up this year by moving the beloved December bender away from the City Tavern Club (its home for much of the last decade) to the historic
Howard Theatre.
And guests clearly agreed with the change in scenery, with both floors of the building overflowing with young and beautiful people all clad in their finest 'elvish black tie' attire.
Atlanta-based motown, soul, and funk group
The Answer Band was enlisted to keep the dance floor writhing, with
DJ Lane tagging-in as the party stretched to 3:00a.m.
A recognized non-profit organization, The Capital Club has been a Washington social fixture for more than 30 years. Santa Soiree is but one of the group's signature annual series of events. Equally entertaining is the springtime Shamrock Soiree and summertime Sinatra Soiree.
Proceeds from Saturday’s event will be used to support local and national charities and community causes, such as the Trey Lefler Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of the South.
