NORTHWEST -- Food, fashion, and philanthropy combined in D.C. on Tuesday evening, as
World Food Program USA (WFP USA) hosted its annual McGovern-Dole Leadership Award ceremony.
This year's honoree was iconic fashion designer
Michael Kors. Since 2012, his eponymous company, in partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme, has provided more than 13 million meals in the fight against global hunger. In addition to his corporate philanthropic efforts, Kors personally advocates against global hunger year-round by serving as a celebrity ambassador for the program.

Vice President Joe Biden and son
Hunter Biden, who serves as the WFP USA's Board Chair, presented Kors with the 2016 McGovern-Dole Leadership Award during a reception and dinner held at the Organization of American States building.

Guests to Tuesday's celebration included numerous prominent Washingtonians, such as

Deesha Dyer, and award-winning chefs

WFP USA's leadership award bears the names of
Senators George McGovern and Bob Dole, who worked together across party lines for the shared purpose of helping feed some of the world's most vulnerable inhabitants.
