GEORGETOWN -- A who's who of fashionistas were in attendance last night at Hu's Wear on M Street for a media soiree announcing the initial schedule of events for the Georgetown neighborhood's "Fashion's Night Out" celebration on September 10th.

Host Committee members Mary Amons (Labels for Love, the District Sample Sale, The Real Housewives of DC), Rachel Cothran (Project Beltway, the Corcoran), Jeff Dufour (UrbanDaddy DC), Kelly Collis Fredrick (CityShopGirl), Angie Goff (WUSA-9 TV), Lana Orloff (Washington Life), Janice Wallace (The Capitol Fashionista), and Paul Wharton (Evolution Look, The Real Housewives of DC) all turned-out in support of the planned event.

While the complete schedule is still being finalized, here's what we know so far:

  • This is basically an epic Georgetown block party. More than 60 stores, restaurants, and salons will be participating!

  • You will do good that night. In addition to supporting local area stores, signature eco-friendly "shag bags" (i.e.: tote bags) emblazoned with the "Fashion's Night Out" graphic will be sold that night at participating retailers for $10/each, with the proceeds benefiting Mary Amons' Labels for Love charity.

  • You might have to dance with a bunch of giant insects. Cirque du Soleil has partnered with the Georgetown BID for this celebration and will be sending a "bug dance" crew from its production of OVO to swarm M Street that night and interact with shoppers.

  • You might win something. Complimentary tickets to see OVO will be secretly planted inside a select few of the tote bags being sold on September 10th.

  • You will relax. Vitamin Water will be transforming the Georgetown Dean & Deluca space into a temporary "Fashion's Night Out Hydration Lounge" where shoppers will be free to kick-off their stilettos and rejuvenate themselves before heading out again.

  • Walking will be optional. Specially-branded "Fashion's Night Out" Pedicabs will be ferrying shoppers around the city that evening. The best part is that these rides are completely free when you show your receipt from qualifying purchases on the evening of September 10th!

  • You will be able to play video games. Georgetown's Lacoste location will be conducting a Wii tournament; the spirit of Fashion's Night Out being to let shoppers experience creative events at their favorite stores that they wouldn't normally expect.

  • You will stay up late. Most participating stores will stay open until 11 p.m. on September 10th. And then there are the afterparties...

  • You will meet famous people. Beauty maven and bluemercury founder Marla Malcolm Beck will be hosting a celebration at her company's Georgetown location that evening; D.C. favorite Urban Chic will be showcasing an exclusive Halston Heritage trunk show with Lindsay Buscher, the store's founder.

  • VIPs will party before the party. A special kickoff party for VIPs sponsored by the night's host committee will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on September 10th at Roche Salon on the Georgetown waterfront.

Of course, no media soiree would be complete without an afterparty... And last night, the Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC's Bourbon Steak bar seemed to be the unofficial destination to be seen post-announcement, with Paul Wharton and Mary Amons' party seen enjoying the award-winning cocktails of wunderkind bartender Duane Sylvestre.

September 10th will be an unforgettable night. We'll see you there on M Street!
