NORTHWEST -- For the seventh year in a row, the Greater Washington Sports Alliance held its signature "SneakerBall" inside the cavernous halls of the National Building Museum on Tuesday night.

While the Sports Alliance itself has both a commercial and philanthropic mission, this week's bash focused specifically on the latter, with proceeds benefiting the organization's 501(c)3 foundation and its goal of creating local sports-oriented youth programs that foster character, fitness, and education.

With Phoenix Suns small forward Grant Hill, New Orleans Hornets All-Star point guard Chris Paul, R&B recording artist Ginuwine, Olympic figure skater Michelle Kwan, Olympic gymnast Dominique Dawes, Washington Redskins linebacker legend Ken Harvey, Washington Capitals center Brooks Laich, Miss DC 2010 Stephanie Williams, and Miss DC 2009 Jennifer Corey donning their best "kicks" that night -- to name but just a handful of the professional athletes and models who turned-out -- guests had the opportunity to chat and joke with some of their favorite local celebrities.

The evening began with a red carpet entrance and a formal sit-down dinner, complete with awards ceremony. Memphis Grizzlies point guard Greivis Vasquez was honored as "Sportsperson of the Year" with Washington Redskins middle linebacker London Fletcher taking home the "Solid Character Award".

Guests were then treated to a crowded after-party, complete with two open bars and a massive table piled high with desserts of all shapes and sizes. While the adventurous took turns "battling" each other on the dance floor, most guests simply talked with friends or enjoyed some of the arcade games that had been setup around the venue.

Score another one for D.C. sports!
