NORTHWEST -- If it's true that we are judged by the company that we keep, then Washington truly holds
DC Magazine in the highest regard, as demonstrated by Thursday night's turnout for an occasion marking the publication's fifth anniversary.
A virtual who's who of the city's fashion, culinary, media, business, and philanthropic worlds passed through the waterfall-lined lobby of PNC Place (800 17th Street, NW) last night. Held on the twelfth and top floor of The PNC Financial Services Group's Greater Washington regional headquarters, the festivities were made all the sweeter by the fact that the evening was unfolding in D.C.'s first LEED Platinum-certified office building.
As the approximately 700 guests nibbled on savory bites provided by
Ridgewells Catering (one of
DC Magazine's original supporters), they were free to mingle about the venue's both indoor and outdoor areas, with a DJ spinning the latest tracks in the background.
And with
Kettle One Vodka,
Johnnie Walker whiskey, and
Ambhar Tequila all serving as sponsors for the celebration, it is safe to say that no glass was left empty and no guest left thirsty at night's end.
Indeed, all glasses were quite full when Publisher
Peter Abrahams, in thanking everyone for their support over the years, proposed a toast to the future. A roomful of raised glassware (cuvees, wine, etc.), of course, enthusiastically responded in turn.
Among the faces that we recognized in the crowd last night (and I apologize for the many friends that I didn't see), are:
