A bevy of Nationals luminaries turned out for last night's VIP film screening.
NORTHWEST -- The magnificent movie palace known as
E Street Cinema was turned into a makeshift (luxury) dugout on Wednesday night for a special VIP screening of the new
James L. Brooks comedy
How Do You Know, hosted by the
Washington Nationals.
Spotlights permeated the city's skyline outside the theater and the "NatMobile" signaled to passersby that something special was indeed taking place inside.
A fun holiday celebration for the team's friends, season ticketholders, and supporters, the red carpet event invited guests to mingle with Nationals luminaries and the
Racing Presidents, all for a great cause.
Indeed, all throughout the cocktail reception preceding the start of the film, donation envelopes were discreetly collected from attendees, with all proceeds benefiting the
Washington Nationals Dream Foundation.
A charitable arm of the team, the 501(c)3 organization focuses on improving the lives of children and families across the Capital Region through youth education, health, and recreation programs.
Last night's D.C. movie premiere (the film opens nationwide on Friday) brought out a terrific mix of well-recognized Washingtonians, including pitcher
Craig Stammen, manager
Jim Riggleman, and most of the Lerner family (
Theodore N. Lerner,
Annette M. Lerner,
Mark D. Lerner,
Robert K. and Marla Lerner Tanenbaum, and
Edward L. and Debra Lerner Cohen).
The best Major League team hosting a charitable holiday party featuring a film from an Academy Award-winning director? Sounds like a homerun to us....
