GEORGETOWN -- Not to let a little snow (okay, maybe a whole lot of snow) get in the way of an amazing party, The Washington Ballet's Jeté Society threw their annual dance party at House of Sweden down by the Georgetown waterfront on Friday, April 23rd, 2010.
While originally scheduled for an early February date, Snowmageddon 2010 quickly threw a wrench in those plans. The event's organizers nevertheless claimed victory over Mother Nature this weekend and stuck to the party's original theme of a "Frost Smitten" evening.
Ticketholders -- the Jeté Society's parties always sell-out -- were treated to three different floors of drinks and entertainment, including a gorgeous (albeit chilly) rooftop deck overlooking the Potomac. And steely cold mood lighting permeated the halls of the venue contributing even more to the evening's underlying theme. Frosty drinks flowed freely from a variety of open bars spread out across the building, and those brave few who arrived on an empty stomach were treated to a sampling of comfort food-inspired bites. Mmmm.... Mac 'n Cheese bar. Yum!
Calories weren't an issue for the dressed-to-the-nines guests in attendance as a packed dance floor grooved to both DJ-spun songs as well as a raucous, live rock, funk, and Motown concert by The Winn Brothers Band.
The DC-based seven-piece group's performance was made possible thanks to the generous contributions of the night's Honorary Chairman, MicroStrategy Founder and CEO Michael Saylor. Saylor could be found front row, center stage throughout all of The Winn Brothers Band's songs and is an impressively good dancer!
After four hours of drinking, dancing, and celebrating, and with the House of Sweden politely shutting its doors at 1 a.m., there was nothing left to do ...but continue drinking, dancing, and celebrating at the after party!
Renowned Georgetown social clubhouse City Tavern Club opened-up its rooms to Jeté Society members and guests until 3 a.m. when, alas, the curtain finally fell on this year's dance party.
See everyone at The Washington Ballet's Purple Rain gala in two weeks! ;)
