NORTHWEST -- Perhaps proving that Thursday night really is the new Friday night, guests from
ELLE magazine and
Lanmark Technology founder
Lani Hay’s
dinner honoring The Creative Coalition boarded a shuttle, courtesy of
Reston Limousine, bound for an unofficial after party at Hay’s northwest home.
The backyard patio area of Lani Hay’s home was tented with crisp white sails.
A standalone celebration in its own right, the late night bash served a dual purpose in simultaneously spotlighting Rock the Vote’s high school civics program:
Democracy Class.
While
Rock the Vote has been instrumental in engaging young adults in the political process for more than 20 years now, Democracy Class is specifically targeted at high schoolers and supported by an
impressive list of advocates.
After arriving at Hay’s residence – a team of valets quickly kept cars moving – guests were ushered into the modern structure, which had been backlit in various shades of blue for the evening.
Outside in the backyard patio area, which was tastefully tented with white sails reminiscent of a Greek yacht, hot dogs were up for grabs for those looking for a late-night snack and open bars flowed liberally throughout the event.
Hot dogs made for excellent late night snacks.
Bloomberg’s Tim Burger toasts Rock the Vote with Juke Kartel’s band members.
At approximately midnight, the Australian rock band known as
Juke Kartel began a series of live performances in the home’s spacious living room area, with the vaulted ceilings providing a warm listening environment.
This being D.C., our nation’s capital as well as our nation’s cupcake capital, most visitors happily indulged in a
Crumbs cupcake before retiring for the night/morning.
A serious crowd, for sure…
It was a school night after all.
