SOUTHEAST -- It’s not unusual for
Washington Nationals All-Star
Ryan Zimmerman to command the attention of fans lining the seats of Nationals Park. But on Thursday night, he will happily cede the spotlight on his home turf to a group of Red Sox fans (gasp!) as the acoustic-pop threesome from Boston-based
Guster takes the field, for the third annual “
A Night At The Park”.
Washington Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman.
Zimmerman’s personal appeal to his D.C. fans in his quest to “bring home a cure” for multiple sclerosis, “Night” is a unique annual (
2011,
2010) collaboration of music and entertainment that benefits the
ziMS Foundation, with the non-profit having raised more than $500,000 since it was founded in 2006.
Country star Rodney Atkins performed at the 2011 benefit.
"Our first two events have been successes and I'm excited about number three,” said Zimmerman. “Guster is a great band for this venue and word has spread about the event and the cause. Every little bit helps and I'm grateful for everyone who has contributed the first two years and so far this year.”

Guster will join a terrific roster of performers, including
Rodney Atkins,
Amos Lee,
David Blaine, and
Mutlu, who have volunteered their time and talent for the cause in prior years.

Highlights of the much vaunted 2012 silent auction tables consist of packages centered around the Masters, Napa Valley wine tours, the GRAMMY Awards, and, of course, schmoozing with Zimmerman himself. And naturally, plenty of signed sports memorabilia will be up for grabs as well.
See you at the ballpark on Thursday night!
