WASHINGTON, D.C. -- A literal gust of fresh air will blow through the Washington metropolitan area this week in the form of a 13-foot tall yellow blowdryer that actually works.

No, it’s not a prop from the latest Hollywood ‘romcom’, but rather the official blowdryer and muse for Drybar -- the ‘all-blowout, no cut, no color’ hair destination that will be opening locations in both Georgetown and Bethesda on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m.

In advance of its D.C. debut, the blow dry bar has enlisted Buttercup (as the oversized mascot is affectionately known) to rally the follicly fashionable with appearances scheduled throughout the area from now through Sunday.

Moreover, the first 10 people to spot Buttercup in Georgetown and Bethesda and post a photo to Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #DrybarInDC will receive a free blowout courtesy of Drybar.

Buttercup’s appearance schedule is as follows:
  • Wednesday, 10/17 – 8am to 11am: Drybar Georgetown (1825 Wisconsin Avenue NW)

  • Wednesday, 10/17 – 11:30am to 2pm: Various Food Truck Locations (Connecticut & K and Lafayette Park)

  • Wednesday, 10/17 – 2:30pm to 6pm: Various Downtown D.C. Locations

  • Thursday, 10/18 – 8am to 11am: Drybar Georgetown (1825 Wisconsin Avenue NW)

  • Thursday, 10/18 – 12pm to 2pm: Drybar Bethesda (4840 Bethesda Avenue)

  • Thursday, 10/18 – 2:30pm to 6pm: Bethesda Lane on Bethesda Row

  • Friday, 10/19 and Saturday, 10/20 – All Day: Various D.C. Metro Locations

  • Sunday, 10/21 – 11am to 4pm: Bethesda Row Arts Festival* (Bethesda Lane, Bethesda Row)

*Buttercup will actually be serving as an art installation during the festival itself.

Build me up Buttercup.
